Symphony, Ballet Host Thousands of Students

The Long Beach Unified School District’s Visual and Performing Arts Office recently announced several upcoming art field trips for local third, fourth and fifth graders in coordination with the Long Beach Symphony and the Long Beach Ballet.

On Dec. 21, third-grade students will attend the Long Beach Ballet’s Backstage at the Ballet, a behind-the-scenes demonstration of the award-winning production of The Nutcracker presented by artistic director David Wilcox. Students will experience the excitement of live theater as Wilcox walks through the trials and rewards of being a professional dancer and the technical magic behind a theatrical production.

In February, the Long Beach Symphony will host fourth and fifth graders at its Symphony Concerts for Young People, an opportunity for students to hear full concerts created especially for them, see how a professional orchestra operates and learn more about pursuing a professional career in music.

The two-day event will mark the return of a 40-year partnership with 菠菜网lol正规平台. The Symphony’s Concerts for Young People are an integral part of the school district’s arts curriculum, as the programming is selected to align with the lessons that students are learning in classrooms.

Both field trips will take place at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. The field trips will be offered at no cost to schools, thanks to generous arts sponsors.
